DESCRIPTION:
Ubuntu has issued an update for oprofile. This fixes some weaknesses,
which can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain
actions with escalated privileges.
1) The opcontrol script does not properly validate certain input via
certain arguments, which can be exploited to execute arbitrary shell
commands.
2) The opcontrol script does not properly validate certain input via
the "--save" argument, which can be exploited to overwrite arbitrary
files via directory traversal attacks.
SOLUTION:
Apply updated packages.
